Although Pristina was the capital of Kosovo, very little was done to turn it into a tourist destination. Swisscontact's PPSE project hired us to support the municipality in improving the tourism offer that will anticipate job generation.
According to an assessment previously conducted by PPSE, the industry was claiming that the availability and quality of tour guides in Prishtina, Prizen and Gjakova was insufficient to meet the tourism industry needs at that time.
Hence, PPSE hired us to improve the tourist guide capacities in the said cities through selection, recruitment, training and coaching of 16 local tourist guides.
Following the successful completion of course, a group of graduates established with their own initiative the first ever Kosovo Tourist Guide Association of Kosovo named GuideKS. Today GuideKS is a member of European Federation of Tourist Guide Associations and its very successful in promoting Kosovo as a tourist destination through qualified tourist guides, including the promotion of the country's cultural and natural heritage as indivisible resources for tourism development.
